My name is Doug Schneider and I'm a commercial and editorial photographer specializing in food pictures. I combine my background as a director of photography in the publishing industry with a natural knack for composition to create modern, genuine images.

People often ask me how I became a food photographer. There’s no simple answer. As a boy, I remember being captivated by the larger-than-life photos in the cookbooks that my mom wrote. My dad taught me the joys of cultivating a vegetable garden. In a matter of years I evolved from being an incredibly picky eater to quite an adventurous one. After college, I inherited my dad's vintage Konica camera and began to experiment. My creative aspirations grew alongside my desire to explore the myriad of culinary delights in New York City. As luck would have it, my first client just happened to be a caterer. As a rookie photographer, I quickly realized that making food images was incredibly satisfying, more so than any other subject. I wanted to learn everything there was to know about the craft, even food styling. I’m still learning, and I’m still enjoying the leftovers from my shoots, no matter what type of food.

I'm available for editorial, commercial, and personal projects. In addition to food, I also enjoy shooting portraits, lifestyle, architecture, and events. When I'm really shooting for fun, I love capturing live music and aerials from airplanes...or blimps.

In my downtime, I can often be found at one of the many live music venues in the NYC area, hiking, cooking, or making my own music with the Americana band Greetings From Anywhere. I'm blessed with a super easy commute, working out of the gorgeous Hudson Collective space on the Dobbs Ferry waterfront.
